Junior/Intermediate Real Estate Appraiser (Commercial and Industrial)

The Antec Appraisal Group is a leading provider of independent, professional real estate valuation, appraisal, and consulting services across Southern Ontario. We are committed to providing our clients (public and private) with relevant and expert advice for real estate investment, financing, and information services. Our team is currently looking to add a full-time, Junior or Intermediate real estate appraiser to join our Waterloo Office. This position will report directly to the partners and senior staff. We are looking for an ambitious, self-motivated and detail-oriented person with a demonstrated interest in real estate. This individual should have critical thinking skills, curiosity, be a team player that can work independently when required. Experience in real estate/appraisal is ideal but not necessarily required for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze property sales, lease transactions, capitalization rates, other data fundamental to real estate valuations.
  • Conduct supervised property site visits and gather property information on site.
  • Review and analyze property financial statements, leases, surveys, and other relevant information about properties.
  • Investigate land use controls such as Official Plan, Zoning, Conservation Authority, other and relate them to property use and value.
  • Support senior consultants with general real estate market research and report modelling for complex assignments.
  • Assist in and lead the preparation of narrative appraisal reports with support from Senior Appraisers.  

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • University degree preferably but not necessarily in a related discipline (Business, Geography, Urban Development, Planning, etc.);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite – particularly Word and Excel.
  • Some knowledge of real estate asset classes and real estate valuation methods.
  • Resourceful and critical thinking with strong research and fact-finding ability.
  • Strong interest in continuous learning and professional development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – both verbal and technical writing.
  • Detail oriented with an ability to logically organize thoughts and present reasoning.
  • Team player first, that has the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel locally – valid driver’s license. Access to a reliable vehicle is preferred.
