Position Objective: Reporting to the greenhouse manager, this position is responsible for the real time monitoring and operation of automated shuttles for the transportation of plant products throughout the greenhouse and header house. They are required to ensure greenhouse zone organization is maintained and efficient delivery of product to the header house for product processing.
Essential Functions & Specific Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Input work instruction to automated robotic equipment to fetch plant products based on the needs communicated by managing and supervisory staff for daily processing.
- Input work instruction to automated robotic equipment to organize plant products within greenhouse zones based on given growing parameters and accessibility for future processing.
- Ensure efficient product delivery to multiple working areas.
- Real-time monitoring of automation operations, ensuring maximum up-time.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report hardware & software complications as they occur.
- Time sensitive updates to daily communication forums with product locations to growing staff.
- Work with Supervisory staff to ensure the automated processing can continue to operate through the evening shift.
- Work with the growing staff to ensure table placement and organization meets their needs.
- Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures within the robotic operating areas.
- Support the health monitoring of products in the greenhouse.
- Maintain a working knowledge of product location in the greenhouse to assist staff in locating products and to ensure the oldest product is pulled for orders first.
This position requires individuals who are detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently. The ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety guidelines is essential. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not required.
Working Environments/Conditions:
- Indoor work environment with high levels of heat and humidity.
- Required use of PPE to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
- Work weekend rotational shifts based on seasonal needs.
- Position requires constant walking, commonly exceeding 10,000 steps a day.
- Multitasking and priority management.
- Pesticide license considered an asset
