EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Capstone Asset Management is looking for a leader with deep knowledge and experience in underwriting to join their team as Senior Portfolio Manager, Real Estate Investments.
Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Senior Portfolio Manager, Real Estate Investments will have direct experience in the mortgage investment sector, preferably within the construction and development industry. In addition, you will have experience with special mortgage situations to enable leadership and engagement with Capstone’s strategic partners.
Beyond the private lending market, you will have experience with equity real estate investments and will be capable of leading the due diligence and management of these investments with Capstone’s strategic relationships. You will also have a demonstrated ability to work with internal and external investment partners.

Capstone, headquartered in Langley, BC, is seeking a Senior Portfolio Manager, Real Estate Investments to be lead manager on Capstone’s three mortgage funds, Treasury Pool, and to manage the real estate investments within other Capstone pools. Your experience in underwriting within the construction and development industry and broadly in the real estate sector will provide a platform to manage the real estate investments at Capstone and provide leadership to the analysts involved in these investments. This experience will also extend to the Investment Committee where you will operate as a voting member.
Currently, Capstone’s mortgage funds represent the largest component of its assets under management.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 10 years of underwriting experience in mortgage investments, including construction and development financing.
CFA or CIM designation with the ability to be registered with the securities commission as a Portfolio Manager is preferred.
Experience across a broad spectrum of real estate asset classes including equity.
Exceptional integrity with a recognized reputation in the mortgage and/or real estate industry.
Demonstration of proven investment judgement and the ability to underwrite and price risk.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
A team oriented, collaborative leader that can work within a growing organization.
Experience with managing a team and effective mentorship skills.
