Position Title: Career Centre Assistant (Student)

Department: Career Centre

Reports To:  Bruce Wilson, Director

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will gain valuable experience in a professional setting, contributing to the Career Centre’s mission of supporting students’ career development.  The Career Centre Assistant will help the Career Centre team with various operational and administrative tasks. This role requires a commitment of 10 hours per week during the academic year. This current role extends through the fall term only, but may be extended.

Key Responsibilities:

Event Coordination:

  • Help plan and execute career fairs, workshops, and other career-related events.
  • Assist with event setup, registration, and participant follow-up.
  • Supports student outreach in the planning and implementation of table display, workshops, etc. on career-related topics to students and alumni.

Student Engagement:

  • Provide front-desk support, including answering student inquiries and scheduling appointments.
  • Communicates with fellow students and the public to promote the university’s career services and programs.
  • Promote Career Centre services and events through various communication channels.

Resource Development:

  • Contributes to the creation of effective marketing strategies/materials to increase student participation in Career Services events.
  • Research and compile information on various career paths and job opportunities.

Administrative Support:

  • Responds to phone inquiries/career@redeemer.ca email inquiries from employers, students, alumni, faculty, and staff
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of Career Centre resources and materials. Ex. Review all Career materials such as App resources, website resources, printed resources, Discovery resources, etc. 
  • Inputs daily Redeemer App posts and cross posts on LinkedIn, as directed.
  • May require involvement in Career Centre C.R.M. database.

Special Projects:

  • Participate in special projects as determined by the Director.

Qualifications:

  • Current student enrolled at the university.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite tools.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience may be beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in career development and student services is a plus.

Working Hours:

  • 10 hours per week, flexible scheduling around academic commitments.
