"Come unto me all you who labour and I will give you rest"

Our Program Director (co-director) helps to create a positive environment for all to feel comfortable in sharing their faith, ideas, and struggles. Our primary focus is to recruit the most suitable candidate who can provide families with an exceptional camp experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Qualifications: 17+, strong leadership and team skills

The position of Program Director is to oversee the camp program and activities in coordination with an Aquatics Co-Director.

The position runs from the Sunday of Canada weekend until the Saturday of Labour Day. Six Families arrive each Sunday and stay until the following Saturday. A typical day will see staff and volunteers organize crafts and games for the children and families during the day and a family-focused activity in the evening. There are two swim times each day at our beach on beautiful Black’s Lake. Responsibilities begin each at 9:00 and end following the evening activity, usually around 10:00.

There are two/three volunteer counsellors each week to assist in the activities. A host family assists in the overseeing of the camp and provides support for the staff. Occasionally, we are privileged to have priests available to share the Eucharist with us. Otherwise, there is a daily liturgy that families help to organize and participate in.

This is a dynamic summer experience.

The following quote is from a past program director after his summer experience.

“Kumuntome is an excellent Christian Community. It offers families who practice their faith an opportunity to deepen their faith and offers families who are not as consistent in their practice of the faith an opportunity to have sustained contact with the Church. And yes, I do say Church, with a capital C. Kumuntome is a part of the Church, an assembly of Christians who worship Christ. It gives campers a chance to live with others who are searching for Jesus Christ, join them in prayer and in fun activities, and in doing so, strengthen to Church.”
