Overview of the Organization:

Church on the Rock (COTR) is a vibrant church passionate about reaching and transforming lives on the Hamilton Mountain. Our church is evangelical, Bible-based, and pursuing the leading of the Spirit.

This role is a full-time, temporary position of 35 hours per week on average but may vary from week to week, as needed. It is expected that you will manage the variability of this average work week. This contract is for a period of 8 weeks from June 29–August 21, 2026. 

Note: this position is partially funded by Canada Summer Jobs and is open to those between the ages of 15-30.

Location: Church on the Rock, 1249 Upper James St, Mount Hope, ON.

Reports to: Director of Operations & Marketing

Primary Purpose:

The Media Coordinator creates digital content that supports Camp Wild Rock and Church on the Rock’s year-round communication, storytelling, and community engagement. This role develops strong skills in photography, videography, graphic design, branding, and digital communication.

Main Accountabilities:

1.      Photo & Video Production

  • Capture photos and videos during camp programming, community events, and Sunday services.
  • Produce highlight reels, social media clips, and short-form videos for church and camp communication.
  • Edit and organize media for use in promotions and online platforms.

2.     Graphic Design & Branding

  • Create graphics for Sunday sermon series (screen, print, social media) and promotional materials—aiming for ~12 series sets.
  • Design camp-related visuals such as posters, signage, digital slides, and social content.
  • Maintain consistent branding and a unified visual identity across platforms.

3.     Website & Digital Media

  • Update web content for Camp Wild Rock pages and church event pages as needed.
  • Assist with social media posting, scheduling, and basic analytics.

4.    Content Planning & Storytelling

  • Work with staff to identify stories, themes, and moments that reflect the church’s mission and impact.
  • Support digital communication strategies that reach families, youth, and the broader community.

5.    Technical & Administrative

  • Organize a media library for internal long-term use.
  • Use digital tools for project management, editing, and content archiving.
  • Create content that supports environmental storytelling through nature-focused camp activities.

 

Experience:

  • Experience in photography and/or videography, including capturing live events, people, and outdoor activities.
  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar programs) for creating digital and print visuals.
  • Experience editing videos and preparing content for social media, websites, or promotional use.
  • Experience managing digital files, organizing media libraries, or handling creative asset workflows is an asset.
  • Experience working or volunteering in a church, camp, ministry, or community environment is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team-based vocational, educational, or ministry setting.

 

Interpersonal Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Strong visual communication skills with an eye for storytelling, composition, and detail.
  • Ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with children, youth, adults, and staff in both camp and church environments.
  • Collaborative and receptive to direction, able to work closely with ministry leaders and adjust content based on feedback.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple creative projects, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Creative, innovative, and adaptable—able to problem-solve quickly, especially when capturing live or fast-moving activities.
  • Comfortable working outdoors, moving between activities, and capturing moments in dynamic environments.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and good judgment when handling sensitive or personal visual content.
