Posting: YOUTH ENGAGER – Youth Team
CONTRACT PAID POSITION – 6-month contract from October to March 28, 2025.
Wage: $20.80 an hour
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Reporting to the Supervisor of the Youth Team, the successful candidate will be responsible.
for engaging youth in Hamilton and will actively be involved in many aspects of work completed
by the Youth Team. This position works in conjunction with the Community Safety and Wellbeing
Plan and the City of Hamilton Youth Strategy.
GENERAL DUTIES
• Contribute to meetings and events of the Youth team
• Lead and facilitate engagement activities with a variety of individuals across Hamilton to identify
needs and supports for the Youth Team and various youth initiatives.
• Build positive relationships with staff, peers and community partners through online
communication and/or in-person meetings
• Creating, editing and posting Instagram content to the @hamontyouth account
• Provide effective feedback on engagement activities in meetings or informal write-ups
• Provide recommendations on new and innovative methods of engaging with youth
• Assists Youth Team staff in developing and suggesting appropriate strategies and opportunities
in response to youth needs
• Refer any youth issues of a serious nature or youth crisis, which arise while on shift, to the Youth
Team staff for back up support
• Provides verbal or written reports as appropriate to the Youth Team staff
• Assists the team in ongoing effort to monitor effectiveness of engagement
• Basic knowledge required Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Canva, PowerPoint to work on
presentations to community and or Instagram postings
• Assist Evaluator in the booking and placing of calls to Xperience Annex Participants
• Ability to travel city wide to designated engagement locations
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Post-secondary education (college or university level) or relevant training is an asset
or combination of education and relevant experience.
2. Knowledge of / or experience working with community-based agencies and
services.
3. Have a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards supporting and engaging with
peers.
4. Knowledge of issues that are important to youth is an asset.
5. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Comfortable with public speaking
and speaking at staff and community tables.
