Good Shepherd Youth Services is committed to helping youth who may be struggling with poverty, family conflict, homelessness, mental health issues, abuse and neglect. We inspire youth to dream, hope and achieve. We strengthen community by believing that no youth stands alone. Each year, Good Shepherd Youth Services helps thousands of youth through strength-based programs including personal counseling, life skills training and educational programs.

In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of Clients in our Youth Services Program. The successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility, adaptability, hospitality and dignity.

Youth Addiction Support Workers will function as a member of the Notre Dame House Youth Support Worker team and will have primary responsibility for working in collaboration with community-based addiction workers in identifying youth who are impaired by drug/alcohol use, facilitating crisis intervention as required and facilitating both the short term and longer-term service needs of the youth served.

What You’ll Bring to Our Team

A post-secondary education in Social Services such as Child and Youth Worker
Demonstrated knowledge/experience of working with transitional-aged youth, youth homelessness and substance use
Knowledge of and experience working in residential treatment for Children under the Ministry Guidelines are a plus
Fluency in French and/or another language(s) is also an asset
CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
Good judgement, problem-solving and assessment skills
Have a strong understanding of harm reduction principles
Must have excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, good organization skills and ability to prioritize workload

Hours of work: Regular Part Time
