Warehouse Supervisor

$19-23/hour

 
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Warehouse Supervisor should possess strong interpersonal skills and be capable of training volunteers to efficiently manage the Mission Thrift Store. They must understand the needs and preferences of thrift store customers and motivate volunteers to provide exceptional service. The Supervisor should also support ongoing process efforts to ensure an efficient and team-like atmosphere. Proficiency in inventory control, pricing, separation of duties, delegation, motivation, marketing, advertising, and financial management is essential. Additionally, the Warehouse Supervisor will collaborate with the Store Manager to enhance production and sales performance by modelling a solid work ethic and maintaining store cleanliness.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•        Work with the Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day activities of the store

•        Communicate clearly and effectively with volunteers and staff

•        Ensure that the sorting area is clean, clear and meets safety standards

•        Delegate the workload in the donations area among volunteers and staff

•        Recruit, interview and select well-qualified volunteers

•        Communicate regularly with volunteers, staff, donors and customers to gain community support and solicit input to improve the store’s activities

•        Resolve any donor issues or concerns that may arise while ensuring donor satisfaction

•        Assist in training, guiding, developing, and motivating team members to reach and exceed their full potential

•        Assist with weekly, monthly, and semi-annual ordering of supplies

•        Oversee daily retail operations, including receivers, sorters and pricers staff/volunteers

•        Achieve daily flow of goods targets

•        Champion of recycling program, including sourcing out new ways to prevent waste

•        Review customer orders/purchases and prepare items for pickup

•        Sustain good working relationships with all third-party companies and agencies

•        Maintain a consistent and timely delivery and pick-up schedule concerning the truck

•        Assign Daily tasks to Department Lead Volunteers

•        Lead volunteer daily morning meeting

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

•        Participate proactively and creatively in the store’s ongoing fundraising efforts

•        Other duties as assigned by Store Manager

•        Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings, weekends and holidays

ABILITIES
The Warehouse Supervisor must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

•        Knowledge of office policies and procedures

•        Experience with the non-profits/volunteer organizations

•        Knowledge of register operation, including cash, credit cards and register receipts

•        Previous experience in a retail store

•        Stacker/walkie experience

•        Health and Safety

•        WHMIS

 SKILLS

The Warehouse Supervisor must demonstrate the following skills:

•        Be organized and neat  

•        Analytical and problem-solving skills; be able to solve problems with good judgment and make decisions independently

•        Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills

•        Computer skills, including the ability to operate Excel, Word, and Email programs

•        Time management skills

•        Positive, helpful attitude toward customers, including the ability to speak clearly and convey information accurately

•        Proficiency and interest in social media, specifically Instagram and Facebook

•        Experience with photography would be considered an asset
