Jans Awnings is a Burlington-based, family business offering specialized awnings, exterior retractable screens, patio enclosures, patio roofs, and fabric replacements.  We are looking for a student for this summer to help with a very, fast-growing business.

The ideal candidate would be in a sales, marketing, or even a psychology program.  Good communication skills are a must.  We would love you to start in the spring until your return to school in September.  We have a very good rate of pay, starting at around $22 per hour, depending on skill level.
We work Monday to Friday and are going to stay open 8 to 5, so this job would likely go 9-5.
We work the occasional Saturday morning in the showroom.
You would be expected to…
  • Answer and direct phone calls and voice messages
  • Organize and schedule appointments, sales calls, service calls and installations in company calendar as efficiently as possible
  • Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Develop and maintain a filing system
  • Update and maintain office policies and procedures
  • Create Sales Orders, Work Orders and Purchase Orders
  • Receive fabrics and create Sewing Work Orders
  • Record inventory as it is ordered, confirmed, received and installed
  • Order office supplies as needed
  • Maintain contact details for Customers and Vendors in Quickbooks
  • Keep detailed notes and photocopies of correspondence with customers, service calls completed and installations
  • Collections of Accounts Receivable
  • Provide general support to visitors in showroom
  • Act as the point of contact for customers
  • Liaise with sales reps and installers to handle requests and queries from customers
  • Keep desk area and showroom area uncluttered, clean and organized
