Job Posting: Student Podcast Technician
Department: Communications
Term: Fall 2026-Spring 2027 (Academic Year)
Hours: 5-10 hours per week
Position Type: Student On-Campus Employment
Position Overview
The Communications Department is seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy student to join our team as a Student Podcast Technician. This academic year, The Redeemer Podcast is expanding into a dual-stream platform: one focused on student recruitment, and a brand-new academic stream, focused on thought leadership in the Reformed Christian tradition.
You will play a vital role in bringing these episodes to life by managing the video/audio recording process and performing light post-production editing. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your portfolio, gain hands-on media production experience and work closely with university faculty and the communications team.
Key Responsibilities
- Studio Setup & Recording: Prepare the recording space and/or software, set up microphones, and manage recordings for hosts and guests.
- Light Editing: Clean up recordings by removing long pauses, leveling audio volumes, stitching in pre-recorded intros, outros, adding chapter timestamps, helping to select clips for vertical promo edit.
- File Management: Maintain organized digital archives and deliver edited master files to the communications team on schedule.
- Coordination: Coordinate recording times with the communications team, the Wolters Centre director, and various faculty hosts to meet our goal of 8–10 episodes per term.
Qualifications
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Experience with recording equipment and video editing software (e.g., Premiere).
- Strong organizational skills and a sharp eye (and ear) for detail.
- Reliable, punctual and able to manage deadlines independently.
- Ability to maintain professionalism when working alongside university faculty and external guests.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the university’s mission and Reformed Christian tradition and how the podcast provides a window into life and learning at Redeemer.
