Are you passionate about storytelling, advocacy, and using communications to create meaningful social impact? Restorations Second Stage Homes (“Restorations”) is looking for volunteers to assist with social media engagement, graphic design, and video projects.
Restorations exists to support survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking by providing long-term residential housing (at “Nancy’s House”) and survivor-led peer programming.
The Communications Team assists the Executive Director with communications tasks to further the mission and work of Restorations. Upcoming projects include designing our annual impact report, planning and creating social media content, and filming and editing videos to share stories of Restorations’ work.
An ideal candidate is someone who:
- Has experience or interest in social media, writing, graphic design, marketing, photography, videography, media relations, and/or digital communications.
- Can communicate sensitive topics with empathy, professionalism, and care.
- Enjoys helping organizations share their impact and engage their community.
- Is creative, collaborative, and aligned with Restorations’ mission and values.

Responsibilities of a Communications Team volunteer include:
- Sharing Restorations’ mission, vision, values, goals, and work with stakeholders.
- Working in collaboration with the Executive Director and staff to develop communications plans based on Restorations’ strategic priorities.
- Researching trends, best practices, and communication strategies that help grow Restorations’ reach.
- Assisting with key communications tasks including but not limited to:
- Collecting images, creating graphics, and drafting captions for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Sharing stories of impact, updates, and news with stakeholders through digital platforms (including social media, e-newsletters, and our website), brochures, posters, annual reports, and other media.
- Supporting the Fund Development Committee with communications relating to any fundraising events, activities, or campaigns.
The Communications Team meets virtually once monthly to develop, review, and execute communications plan’s activities. Volunteers then work independently between meetings to accomplish tasks.
