Position: Youth Leader (Summer Foundations Program)

Status: Part Time, Contract (20 hr/week, June 26-August 22)
Report to: Manager, Transformational Programs
Primary Work Location: Toronto, ON
Position Summary: As part of your summer Foundations Program, the youth leader will be responsible for engaging with and ministering to the children connected to Scott Mission summer day programming in the Lawrence Heights and O’Connor communities. This role will seek to further the transformational impact in the children currently supported by Scott Mission programs.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain a vibrant faith and lead a life modeling the way of Jesus
Support Children and Youth Ministry staff in the planning and preparation of summer day program activities at Lawrence Heights and O’Connor.
Support Children and Youth Ministry staff in the implementation of summer day program activities at Lawrence Heights and O’Connor including running games and lessons.
Plan and support small outings, trips and other connections. for the summer day program
Build and maintain relationship and supervise children during program activities, providing care to their physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social needs.
Complete research projects as assigned as part of the foundations leadership program.
Report on attendance, stories, and feedback for each program activity
Maintain proper documentation and strict confidentiality in accordance to Scott Mission policies
Required Experience and Education:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including active listening
Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills
Ability to multi-task and be flexible in daily routine
Self-starter and result oriented, creative problem solver
Team player with demonstrated flexibility and willingness to be mentored
Willingness to learn and to complete the foundations leadership program
A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience requirements.
