Southwestern Ontario YFC Youth Unlimited - Waterdown Satellite

The Waterdown Satellite of Southwestern Ontario Youth for Christ Youth Unlimited is looking for interns! YFC Waterdown operates a drop in centre in the heart of the Waterdown community that serves local youth ages 10-18. We offer a large variety of programs that are tailored to the needs of the youth in our community. Lunch drop in program; Girls clubs; Bible studies; Archery; Mental Health groups; Arts nights; Junior High drop in; 1 on 1 mentoring; and more, are some of what we offer at our centre. As an intern student, you have the opportunity to help with all or any of these programs, or even work towards starting your own based on the needs that you identity in the community!

This is a great opportunity to gain skills for a variety of different career options – from ministry, to social work, to education, and more!

We can offer how ever many hours per week you need (up to 30) and can offer positions for Fall, Winter, or Summer semesters.

Some of what the position may entail:

  • Assisting with existing programs (note – your days of availability will determine which programs you can assist with)
  • Engaging in conversation with youth from a variety of backgrounds and demographics – from small talk, to relationships, mental health, questions of faith, and much more
  • Planning and ‘behind the scenes’ work
  • Helping with fundraising events and opportunities
  • Developing programs and activities based on assessed needs of the youth
  • Some remote work may be required


  • Note: Our policy requires a 5 year age gap with our oldest youth 
  • The ideal applicant will be a team player, able to work independently and be self-motivated, confident in carrying out and implementing tasks, be creative, organized, and able to “see the hope and potential in every young person” (our mission statement)
  • Must have availability within our hours of operation (typically Monday-Friday from 9-4, with the exception of some evening programming) but we are fairly flexible within this
  • Interview, 3 reference checks and application, Signing of our policy handbook, Vulnerable Sector Check, Plan to Protect training (please note these must be completed for this role specifically – please wait to obtain these until we have given more instructions)
