Hamilton District Christian High (HDCH) is looking for a Chaplaincy Intern for the 2025-2026 school year.  This is an opportunity for an intern to engage in meaningful ministry while developing leadership and chaplaincy skills in a supportive Christian educational setting. Position Summary

Title: Student Chaplaincy Intern

Role: The Student Chaplaincy Intern will support the spiritual development of students at HDCH by providing additional spiritual care beyond weekly chapel events, strengthening the chapel program, and cultivating leadership skills among students.

Responsibilities:

  • As part of the Spiritual Formation Team, assist in planning and leading chapel services, including selecting themes, coordinating speakers, working with worship team, and engaging students.
  • Provide one-on-one spiritual care and mentorship to students as needed.
  • Facilitate small group Bible studies or prayer groups.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate faith into the school community.
  • Support student leaders in spiritual growth initiatives and leadership development.
  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional spiritual formation.
  • Assist with any additional projects that support the spiritual well-being of the school community.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Youth Ministry, Theology, or Christian Studies program (or a related field).
  • Passion for Christian education and student discipleship.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience in youth ministry, chaplaincy, or spiritual leadership is an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of HDCH.

Learning Opportunities

This internship will provide the student with hands-on experience in school-based ministry and leadership development. The intern will gain practical experience in leading spiritual programming, mentoring students, and fostering a Christ-centered community. The role aligns with the learning goals of Redeemer University’s Youth Ministry program by providing opportunities to apply theological knowledge in real-world ministry settings.

Through this role, the intern will develop pastoral care skills, worship leadership abilities, and a deeper understanding of youth ministry within a Christian educational environment. This experience will also allow the intern to reflect on the integration of faith and learning while growing in personal spiritual formation.

Compensation

  • $500 stipend per semester

Other Requirements

  • Access to a reliable vehicle for transportation.
  • Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Agreement with HDCH’s mission, vision, and statement of faith.
