Full time – Sundays to Thursdays

Position Description:
The Worship Arts Pastor (WAP) is responsible for engaging a variety of creative and technical arts to foster a consistent and healthy rhythm of worship into all areas of church ministry. The Worship Arts Pastor will prayerfully discern to set standards, facilitate training and equipping and provide spiritual counsel to a team of staff and volunteers as they develop and lead worship services and activities. Beyond Sunday services, worship activities will include special worship events at festivals, and oversight of worship through generational ministries.
The Worship Arts Pastor will report directly to the Lead Pastor to ensure alignment with the spiritual direction of the church. The Worship Arts Pastor will also have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Executive Pastor to facilitate operational alignment.
Sunday Worship Services and Special Events (Festivals)
Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to discern, articulate and execute expressions of Worship.
Foster diversity in worship expressions, reflecting the global nature of The Peoples Church
Partner with the Lead Pastor to prayerfully discern and cast vision for the architecture of Sunday services.
Facilitate alignment between the preaching, hosting and worship/prayer sections of the service to animate and enhance the worship experience for all congregants.
Occasionally lead and/or participate in the worship team in services and Festivals.
Partner with the Lead Pastor and the Senior Director, Media and Communications to execute Sunday Worship Services and worship expressions in Festivals (Christmas, Easter, Global Mission Conference). Collaboration and alignment are the responsibilities of all three parties.
Leadership and Pastoral Care
Provide spiritual counsel, mentor and guide direct reports and worship team volunteers to help them develop in their skills and spiritual gifts, as they pertain to the expression of worship in a global church context.
Cultivate, recruit, train, equip and shepherd the Worship Team volunteer community.
Model the Biblical imperative for unity and honouring different gifts in the Body of Christ with love
Oversee direct reports to ensure efficacy and alignment of their ministries with church priorities
Equip and support direct reports to achieve their role responsibilities, providing timely feedback on their performance.
Determine individual and Worship Arts team annual goals, objectives, and benchmarks in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and Executive Pastor
Oversee and manage the budget of the Worship Arts department
Oversee Worship Cultivation across Ministries
Prayerfully discern to set standards for, and foster worship expressions in all ministries, with a focus on overseeing the work and ministry of the NextGen Worship Development Director and Choir Director.
Seek opportunities to encourage creative arts expression of worship through the church ministries.

Musically gifted: Experience in leading worship vocally, supported by at least one instrument, in a team environment (band, vocal team).
Biblically astute: Possess relevant training (theological education preferred).
Aligned: Supports the Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Covenant of The Peoples Church
Working Conditions
Standard work week: Sunday to Thursday, including evening rehearsals
Pastor-level position which involves working extra hours as required
