Junior Youth Camp Director

Department: Congregational Life    

Reports to:  Junior Youth Pastor

Direct Reports:  N/A

Status: Full-time, Contract (May-August)

Position Overview:

The Junior Youth Camp Director exists to oversee the Junior Youth Camp and support the ongoing Junior Youth Ministry. The camp is 6 days overnight for students in grades 6-8 with a focus on community, friendship, and connecting with God. This role will oversee all details for the weeklong camp in conjunction with the Junior Youth Pastor. Along with the camp, this position will assist with PREMIX, which focuses on introducing missions to students through experiential urban missions training. Some of the afternoon experiences include learning about refugees, seniors, and the homeless.

Major Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of the Junior Youth Camp in conjunction with the Junior Youth Pastor including venues, transportation, meals, leader training, speakers, band, afternoon experiences, etc.
Responsible for volunteer management including recruitment, onboarding, and debriefing.
Attend REMIX (high school program) to fully understand the purpose and design of PREMIX and use it as a training exercise to apply the concepts to a Junior Youth audience.
Assist with ongoing Junior Youth program including Friday night program, Sunday program, and summer events.
Assist the PREMIX Coordinator as needed in preparation for the weeklong program.
Other duties as assigned may include (but are not limited to) assisting with other ministry activities within The Peoples Church.

A passion to help all children discover Jesus
Must be at least 5 years older than those you are serving
Experience working with teens and specifically students in grades 6-8 (11-14 years old)
Understanding of missions and excited to teach students how to live on mission
Strong communication, time management and organization skills
Ability to plan, develop, organize and carry out youth programs effectively
Ability to work independently, in a team, and occasionally from home.
Creative thinker, who is a team player with a positive attitude
First Aid/CPR Training Preferred
Working Conditions:

Vulnerability Sector clearance required
Interacts with others (children, parents, volunteers, staff) regularly
Full time – Sundays included
Overnights required for REMIX, PREMIX, and Junior Youth Camp
Some remote work may be required
Support and understand Shared mandate and Statement of Faith
