NextGen Program Leader

Department: Congregational Life    

Reports to:  Junior Youth Pastor

Direct Reports:  N/A

Status: Full-time, Contract (May-August)

Position Overview:

The NextGen Program Leaders exist to support NextGen Programs (Kids and Junior Youth). NextGen Program Leaders will assist with Friday Junior Youth Program, Sunday Junior Youth and/or Kids Program, Vacation Bible School, PREMIX, Junior Youth Camp, and other events within Kids and Junior Youth Ministries. The range of programs supports missions while learning about refugees, seniors, and the homeless. We strive to include as many children and youth with disabilities in programs and the NextGen Program Leader may assist with integration or as a Buddy.

Major Responsibilities:

·         Assist with ongoing Kids and Junior Youth program including Friday night program, Sunday program, and summer events.

·         Support all NextGen Programs including Vacation Bible School, PREMIX, Junior Youth Camp, and other events within Kids and Junior Youth Ministries. This includes preparation, implementation, and clean-up of programs.

·         Attend a portion of REMIX (high school program) to better understand how to support students at PREMIX (junior youth program).

·         Assist with volunteer management including recruitment and onboarding.

·         Other duties as assigned may include (but are not limited to) assisting with other ministry activities within The Peoples Church.

Qualifications:

·         Deep and growing personal faith in Jesus Christ

·         Supports the Statement of Faith of The Peoples Church

·         A passion to help all children discover Jesus 

·         Minimum 5 years older than those you are serving

·         Experience working with children and teens ages 0-14 years

·         Understanding of missions and excited to teach children and youth how to live on mission

·         Strong communication, time management and organization skills

·         Ability to plan, develop, organize and carry out youth programs effectively

·         Ability to work independently, in a team, and occasionally from home.

·         Creative thinker, who is a team player with a positive attitude

·         First Aid/CPR Training Preferred

Working Conditions:

·         Vulnerability Sector clearance required

·         Interacts with others (children, parents, volunteers, staff) regularly

·         Full time – Sundays included

·         Overnights required for PREMIX, and Junior Youth Camp

·         Some remote work may be required

·         Support and understand Shared mandate and Statement of Faith
